Ratan Tata, a visionary industrialist and chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, passed away on Wednesday. He had been undergoing treatment for the past few days.

Ratan Naval Tata, a legendary figure in Indian industry and the Tata Group, died late Wednesday night at the age of 86. He had been receiving treatment for a prolonged illness at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital.

“It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Mr. Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the fabric of our nation,” Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran said in a statement.

Calling him "a mentor, guide, and friend," Chandrasekaran emphasized that Ratan Tata was "more than a chairperson for the Tata Group."

“He inspired by example. With an unwavering commitment to excellence, integrity, and innovation, the Tata Group, under his stewardship, expanded its global footprint while always remaining true to its moral compass," he added.

Chandrasekaran further mentioned that Ratan Tata's dedication to philanthropy touched the lives of millions. 🏥 From education to healthcare, his initiatives left a deep mark that will benefit future generations.

Prime Minister Modi's Tribute

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute, calling Ratan Tata "a visionary business leader, a compassionate soul, and an extraordinary human being." 🏢

“He provided stable leadership to one of India’s most prestigious business houses. His contribution went far beyond the boardroom. His humility, kindness, and commitment to making our society better endeared him to many,” said PM Modi.

Condolences from Rahul Gandhi

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi expressed his sorrow, stating that "Ratan Tata was a man with vision" who made a lasting mark in both business and philanthropy.

State Funeral for Ratan Tata 🕯️

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that Ratan Tata would be accorded a state funeral. A day of mourning will be observed in the state to honor the legend.

Ratan Tata’s body will be kept at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) in Mumbai on Thursday from 10 AM to 4 PM for public tributes. Last rites will be performed at 3:30 PM at the Worli crematorium.
